Generally the thin straps are made of a thick rubber and the wide straps are made of nylon, leather or some other material.
It's funny when people say wider to hide the foot as much as possible since flip flops in general are not the way to go about hiding your feet.
The regular straps. The ones that are the same size as the women's flip flops. Not the super thin ones or they'll look like they're women's.
