Flip Flops Digital Electronics
digital electronics problem sending pulse from counter chip at differing intervals?
im using a counter chip (0-9) and i want it to count to 3 then reset then count to 8 then reset and do this in a continuous (0-3 then 0-8 then 0-3 then 0-8 etc)
i can get a reset pulse to reset the chip at 3 OR 8 but not one then the other.
how can i do this? (could some sort of flip flop be implemented to do this?)
Yes a flip flop would work. I would use a 4013 set up to toggle and clocked by output 0. Then i would connect the flip flops two outputs with two of the control inputs from a 4066 quad analog switch. The inputs of the two switches would connect to the counter outputs 4 and 9. The outputs of the two 4066 switches can both be connected to the reset pin without data conflict as one counter output will always be turned off. After every 0 count the flip flop alternately turns on one of two switches that connects either counter output 4 or 9 to the reset pin. This should give you the results you want with the addition of only two common CMOS IC's.
