Does anyone else agree that children should wear shoes and socks outside during the summer?
Its not even summer yet and I'm already seeing children going barefoor, wearing flip flops and sandals outside. I make my kids wear light colored shoes and socks during the summer and never let them go barefoot. The reason because on insects, glass, sun and many other things that can hurt their little feet. Not only that I do not want them being the type that hates wearing shoes. Of course swimming and playing with the hose is the exception. Anyone agree?
I'm asking this because kids were not not like this 20 year ago.
Not is such large numbers I mean.
I feel they should wear socks and shoes as well. I make my son all the time. However, my stepchildren I cannot make them. There Mom sends them with flip-flops because that is all they wear (She let them do what they want).
Now, my husband and I bought them shoes for a couple of summers after our oldest stepped on a nail in a friends yard and it went right threw her flip-flop. However, They would outgrow them so fast and not get the use out of them and they always complained. I didn't have an issue with the complaining, they had to wear them anyway. Then last year my husband said just to let them wear flip-flops so I don't make a big deal out of it anymore.
Good luck and do what you feel is right they are your children and you are protecting them no matter what other parents do.
