The flip flop has been around over 5000 years. Starting with the Egyptians, they were thought to be worn by influential members of society. They could bring power, different styles were worn in different cultures, and they were made of different colors and styles. Some ladies would even match the flip flops with their dress or jewelry.

In the old days, much royalty wore flip flops. They were thought to be made of the finest materials. Not necessarily so. The Egyptians would wear flip flops made out of palm leaves, canvas or wood. Some were even made out of animal carcasses.

Different styles were worn in different cultures. All depending on what materials were used, flip flops were just about the only shoe that was worn. They didn’t take a lot of material and were easy to make.

Today the flip flop is so popular, everyone is wearing them. When you were a kid, what fun it was to wear them to the pool or beach. Or maybe just around the house. They were mainly worn by kids, made for kids. You did not see many adults wear them.

Now today, man, woman and child of all ages wear them. The flip flop is a part of everybody’s wardrobe, ranging from all colors and many different styles.

Some flip flops are even worn in the work place. These can be costly. The price ranges from ten dollars up to fifty dollars. The can be made of fine leather. Fancy designs can be on them, making them dressy.

You can buy a pair of flip flops at any discount store or now days, at the fancy designer stores or boutiques. The big name designers have started making flip flops for all types of people. Some designers have their own label of flip flops. Some of them are very expensive, thus raising the prices up.

Rubber flip flops are comfortable to say the least. Your toes can breath. It feels good to have your feet exposed, but protected. The rubber ones are still the most popular, as they are inexpensive and go everywhere. You can wear them to the beach, pool or a motel room.

You can also buy a different variety of flip flops. Some now have arch supports, leather soles and straps. Your true flip flop will just flip when you walk and flop. That is it.

Flip flops have and will be around for thousands of years. All generations will wear them for years to come. Go pick out the ones you want. Have fun walking in them. Pick different colors to wear with different outfits. Shoe wearing has never been so much fun.

Women paint your toe nails a pretty color, flip flops show off your feet. Have a big sunburst on a pair, maybe a funny face. The ideas are endless. Have a least ten pair in your closet.
